Timber Bridge Maintenance
Timber bridge maintenance is any maintenance carried out on a timber bridge.
At BRC bridge maintenance is typically undertaken in response to the findings of proactive inspections.
The main activities associated with timber bridges are:
- Tightening & replacing bolts in components
- Applying preservative or waterproofing treatments on components, particularly on member ends.
- Temporary propping of defective components.
- Repairing bridge footway surfaces.
- Clearing scuppers
- Cleaning aggressive contamination on steel components.
- Removing deck vegetation which maybe a fire risk below the bridge.
- Spraying termicide poisons.
